Meet Our People
When you hire a rep firm, you hire its people.  We built our reputation on having people with the knowledge and commitment to make your life easier.  Now meet the people who make that happen every day:

Alison Swanson

I started Controls West in 1988 because I believed customers would respond to a higher level of service.  They call us a manufacturer’s rep firm.  I believe we’re problem solvers.  I get my satisfaction when the equipment is in, tested and running smoothly.

This year I celebrate 30 years in the process control and instrumentation industry at the rep level in Arizona.  In fact, I’m the second generation in this industry, following a legacy of hard work and straight talk started by my father, Bill Wallace, in 1953, when he started his own rep firm here.  I’ve also tried to follow the legacy of giving back to the community started by my mother, Almeda Wallace, with my involvement in The Volunteer Center helping match volunteers with needs throughout Arizona and with horsehelp.org, an organization that works with specially trained horses to help special abilities people journey where they couldn't otherwise go by themselves.  Read a recent article about Alison's charitable activities.

I love my job a Controls West.  We get to wear many “hats” at a company this size and I never get bored, as my job includes office manager, inside sales and customer service.  I came to Arizona and CWI in 1996 from my previous job with IFM Efector.  I love the technical work involved in selling industrial control equipment.  I also enjoy doing volunteer work, being with my husband and dogs and the Arizona sunshine.

Monica Garza

I came to Controls West three years ago after four years working for another rep firm.  I do inside and outside sales and customer support.  I’m second generation in the process control and instrumentation industry and love what I do.  As a puzzle fanatic, I enjoy “putting the pieces together” for customers, from initial specification through start up.  I also enjoy horses and bowling.

Andy Hutson

I came to Controls West in 2002 as the resident technical support advisor.  I arrived with a degree in industrial automation and 15 years of work experience in industrial technology.  I specialize in custom programming, system design, consultation and training.  I spent my youth as “that kid down the street who programs computers.”  Anyone wanting to reminisce about all that fun you had with the 8-bit “6502” microprocessor, well, I’m your guy!  I also enjoy photography and composing music.

Debby Kunzman

I have been in the process control industry for 18 years; 8 with Honeywell Building and Control and 10 here at CWI.  As an outside salesperson I am able to become personally involved with the people we are servicing.  I love the diversity of the different products we represent and the array of industries.  Each day is filled with new challenges, opportunities and things to learn.  For the amount of time we each spend working every day, I am lucky to work for a company I love.

I sat where you sit.  As a Facilities Engineer for Intel I had a variety of Reps calling on me.  Some good, some not.  I always thought being a Rep (the good kind) would be fun and rewarding.  Now that I am one, my goal is to understand your needs and present solid solutions; I won't waste your time.  My background also includes a sales position with GE Sensing.  I am a third-generation engineer, following my grandfather and father to find my "inner geek."  I graduated from UNM with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Char Lena

I have been in the instrumentation industry for 27 years, 11 of which here at CWI.  I’m in outside sales and cover parts of Phoenix, Northern Arizona and Las Vegas.  I enjoy learning new products and the challenge of applying them to customer applications.  The people I work with, both inside Controls West and the customers I serve, help me look forward to coming into work each day.

Sandra Ostapuk

I have been with CWI for over 13 years and in the industrial controls industry for a total of 19 years.  I work with our customers in Southern Arizona in a sales and technical support role and enjoy working to find the best equipment and support for their needs.  I’ve attended factory training with Fisher Controls, Dietrich Standard Annubar, Honeywell, Controlotron, Endress & Hauser, Fireye, Drexelbrook, IFM Efector and Warren Valve.  To relax. . .watercolor and piano lessons keep me busy.

Susan Rose

I began working for Controls West in 1994 after graduating from the University of Wyoming and relocation to Arizona.  I took one year off in May 2000 to spend time with newborn twin daughters.  Among my responsibilities are inside sales, customer service and order processing.  I enjoy assisting customers in finding products and solutions to fit their needs.
